About Laura

I attended my first yoga class in 1995 while visiting a friend in Los Angeles and was astounded by how amazing I felt afterwards. I could feel the blood coursing through my veins, my eyes were sparkling, and I had a huge grin on my face. I could not remember ever feeling this vibrant. I knew that yoga would play an important role in my life, and I have been following the path of yoga ever since. Yoga brings me tremendous joy and also helps me deal with life's challenges. I am a breast cancer survivor, and yoga played a huge role in my recovery from multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. I strongly believe that yoga improves our ability to heal on all levels, and consider it an honor to share this healing practice with others.

I am certified as both a yoga instructor and yoga therapist, trained to work with adults and children. I have trained with Bikram Choudhury for Bikram (Hot) Yoga; with Sonia Sumar for Yoga for the Special Child; and with Joseph Le Page, Lilian Le Page, Joyce Anue, and Scott Blossom, for Integrative Yoga Therapy. I am committed to ongoing education and attend workshops and conferences to hone my skills as a yoga therapist and teacher. I teach with lots of compassion, encouragement, and attention to alignment.

On a personal note, I am an Illinois native currently living in Boulder, Colorado. I have a B.A. from Wellesley College and an M.A. from Stanford University. In my free time I hike, horseback ride, snowboard, read, and spend time with my excellent husband and friends.

Since 1999 I have also been coaching people who are going through life and career transitions. If you want to learn more about my coaching practice, please visit my Coaching Site.
